Can't see why not.
The supplier of the plate will probably manufacture to a far higher tolerance than LR so it should be a case of unscrew the old and screw on the new I hope the dealer is going to do this for you free of charge. it should be possible to drill the rivets out and put new plate on. but make sure the dealer supplies new gaskets (actually it will be interesting to know if they put them on in the first place)
to be honest - you should have told the dealer to change before you left the garage K9F will recommend sikaflex (shortly) .. it pays to seal out the water and dirt. pictures ... upload to your favorite photo hosting company and use the link [img] as above good luck |

Steve
Mine is genuine LR plate and it is screwed into rivnuts. That was in 2009 and I saw a new 2012 the other day and the plate was fitted in the same way. I assume that is the standard way of fitting the genuine plate but stand to being corrected Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

I think your probably right Bob. Mine has it riveted though. It's annoying if say you bought one that has been riveted and you say wanted black chequer plate instead would be just an easy swap with riv nuts but with the rivets I'd rather pass.

I suppose it does all depend on the dealer and if they fitted genuine or not.
All the plate on mine is contersunk to take screw heads, the plate on the wing tops uses large counter sunk screws and it would certainly not look right riveted. I only ever fit genuine ones,
The form/seal/gaskets are/is stuck to the underside of the plates,, and if fitted properly, are held with rivenuts ,then countersunk set screws,, so should be a straightforward swap,, if the silver and black ones are drilled in the same place California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

I fitted the mammoth wing top plate at Christmas, it has a gasket that I stuck to the underside and it has countersunk screws. They fit well and then I just run a bead of sealant around it to stop the dirt and water getting in.
I am quite impressed with it and would be happy to use the mammoth stuff again. Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |
