I've got about a ton sitting in Edinburgh after a large beech tree blew down in the December gales. The stihl chainsaw has seen considerable action.
It'll sit in Edinburgh for a while, until I get the trailer on the Defender to haul it up to Aviemore...no rush - this is next year's wood AJS4x4 - nicely split - I guess you have a hydraulic splitter? Think I may need a lock on my woodstore - the thieves have been stealing stuff around here Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

I know what you mean about the suspension, I looked into getting helpers for it. Amazing how much you can get in the back with an Ifor on though. Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Nick 2.2 110 Tipper |

When one’s listing the pros and cons of owning a Defender - and there are many of each - the number one of the pros is often overlooked: whatever you can physically get in one, it’ll carry, and whatever you can hitch up behind it, it’ll tow…

Beechwood fires are bright and clear
If the logs are kept a year Oaken logs burn steadily If the wood be old and dry But ash dry or ash green Makes a fire fit for a queen Logs of birchwood burn too fast There's a fire that will not last Chestnut's only good they say If for long it's laid away But ash new or ash old Is fit for queen with crown of gold Poplar makes a bitter smoke Fills your eyes and makes you choke It is by the Irish said Hawthorn makes the sweetest bread But ash green or ash brown Is fit for queen with golden crown Elmwood burns with a churchyard mould E'en the very flames are cold Apple logs will fill your room With an incense like perfume But ash wet or ash dry For a queen to warm her slippers by |
