It certainly looks like it. Possibly to prevent a flailing, failed propshaft from puncturing the long range tank? 2015 90 XS CSW TDCi - Beautiful

Interesting - don't think I have seen that on any other vehicle.

I've seen catch straps fitted to light commercial trucks/lorries over here.
Most off road race cars(rally, speedway) I've seen have to have them fitted also. Cheers, Kyle. |

I seen this device in some Defenders in the Patagonia (aftermarket) were the corrugated roads can do a lot of damage to the drivetrain.
The idea -as mk1collector said- is to prevent accidents when the prop drops due a failure of the joints. Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Have you seen what damage a flailing prop-shaft does? In the early 1980's I drove Bedford CF vans for a living and one of the fleet had a prop-shaft let go at 60 mph...... You could stand in hole it made in the floor!!!!!
Unfortunately no iPhones then so no pic! Cheers Don. |
