"•France has strict drink driving laws, blood alcohol levels being stricter than in the UK (0.5 mg/ml rather than 0.. Rather than present you with meaningless figures relating to blood/breath alcohol levels, our advice is if you're driving, don't drink. And from July 1st 2012 you must carry a breathalyser kit in the vehicle." |

Apparently the police wont start fining people until november but the law comes in on July 1.
Utterly utterly ridiculous. |

So these kits. Do they have to be approved government kits? |

Yep, but they're only about £1.50 each. However, the cost is not the point as far as I'm concerned. |

Just plead insanity. That's the way the French look at us anyway.

I'm currently in St Malo and think it's a pretty damn fine place. Excellent restaurants, fine wine and beautiful surroundings. If you want something to whinge about look at how much we and visitors pay for fuel. For those that are whining about paying £1:50 for a breathalyser it's simple 'Don't Come!" If you do the first time you fill up with fuel it will more than offset your outlay! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Not whining at all.
So now this is the new revised list of kit the French have to carry in their cars and so now we also have to while we are driving through France. Breathalyser kit two warning triangle (I've just been told) hi viz vests for all occupants bulbs fire extinguisher first aid kit White flag |
