looking for advice from anyone who has replaced the large forward bushes on the trailing arms?
the reason, though the bushes seem to look healthy, I now have a gap between the large heavy washers and the bushes where the trailing arm connects with the chassie, I'm planning on remaining standard with the bushes as I hope to travel fare and wide and standard is easier to locate replacments, so the real question is, can I just unbolt both ends of the trailing arm and replace the bushes without a press (not the axel end) and torque every think back up? thanks for reading Mark |

thanks Greeni, all I wanted was confermation that I'm not missing any steps that I then find when the vehical becomes undrivable,
and one side at a time sounds like the sort of advice that could save a real B**L ache I was thinking of chocking all the wheels before I start as well, worth doing? also thanks for the offer of the phone support offer, much appreciated Mark |

Zinke, I had a number of issues with the rear suspention over the first couple of years, so I did notice the bushes at the front of the trailing arms can have a gap at the front lower and rear upper washer to bush when unloaded and at rest, now I have a gap top and bottom at the front or back depending on the load on the rear axel, if the vehical is parked with its nose up hill the gap is at the back of the chassie mount point and if down hill the reverse, its that movement that is the problem and making the noise.
thanks for the offer of the pics, I think that if this is an issue in two or three years again I'll be investing in cranked trailing arms to reduce this angle, but for now i'll just do the bushes now I know its doable, mark |

Well at least you know its a easy job, i took both sides off mine at the same time as i painted the arms at the same time and didnt have any problems.

Mark, did you manage to sort out the rear axle movement? was it the bushes in the end?

still not fixed it yet Jack, after are summer outings where finished I did the waxoyl thing and the movment stopped until the last week, I think the waxoyl blistered and swelled the bushes just enough to stop the problem
![]() ordering the the bushes tomorrow, hope your well. |
