Sort all the spaghetti inside the battery box.
Well,

After several home made installations (spot lights, VHF radio, Working ligth, Trailer brake control. Fridge and trailer battery charger and other things, the battery box looks like a spaghetti with all the fuses around. So I decide to put in order all the things.

Finally I bought teh following items from Amazon in USA

ANL Megafuse box with a 100A fuse for all the additions

This fuse block for 100A input and 30A max in each output for all the things

The things jus arrive today and we have a loong weekend ahead, so I have something to do Mr. Green

Cheers Eduardo

Hi Eduardo, the second fuse box is a Blue Sea 12 gang fuse box with common negative bus bars and two banks of 6 fuses. Yes it is a good fuse box Thumbs Up

You will find that it is actually rated at 100 Amps per bank of 6 fuses, 30 amps per fuse.

Following on from the fuse box, what size wire is needed for a 12V 30A supply? Russell

Thin wall, standard wall, twin cable?

Thin wall 3mm2 is rated at 33 amps, however I would probably go to 4 mm2 at 39 amps.

Always a good idea to take negative back to battery.

As a rough rule of thumb work on 7-8 amps per mm2

We do a slightly different version of this fuse box. The basic difference is the catch. Stainless steel fixtures, 2 x 6 fuse banks. 100 amp/bank, max 30 amp/fuse. Common negatives. Cost normally £31

The Blue Sea one is available from Tim at Mobile Centre at £40.20. The ones we sell are also available from VWP at £39.41

Err no they are not on our website yet Embarassed That is like an overland vehicle, an ongoing project! Whistle

Thanks for all the tips regarding the wires.
According to the Blue sea leaflet they recommend fron 25 to 6 mm2 for the main wire and from 6 to 1,5 mm2 in the branch circuit.

In my case I will go for a 20 mm in the main wire and I will keep the original wires in the other things (rated from 3 to 5 mm2). Negatives will go directly to the baterry as Leeds said.

I get mine from Amazon in USA at a good rate of USD 37.95 that is quite good

The two banks of fuses have separate positive terminals which IIRC can either be linked together and have one big positive feed wire or you could use separate wire from battery to each gang of fuses.

If you want too you could incorporate an inline mega fuse 100 amps or less for each bank of fuses.

Might be sensible to balance the loads on each bank. i.e. if you have say four large loads of 20-30 amps and six 5 amp or less loads you wire it so that each bank of fuses have two large loads of 20-30 amps and three 5 amp or less loads with a spare fuse per bank. Hope that makes sense.

Position the fuse box so that you have access with batteries in. Razz

The auxiliary fuse box on our red 110 is in main battery box. That was fine until installed larger batteries and second winch. Now I really should reposition it as need to remove battery to get to fuse box. Embarassed Ho humm thats another job on the list.

So some forward planning and foresight on possible future alterations. Isn't hindsight wonderful?

Brendan,

May be I have a different version (PN 5029). Mine have just one positive distribution bus instead the 2 that you mentioning. Also this model do not have the negative bus. Anyway thanks for your advices.

I promise to put some pictures of the after and before
