You'll probably find that the cabin heater is able to cool the engine at a greater rate than the engine can produce heat at tick over.

My 200Tdi is the same, if you leave it ticking over for a long period of time it will cool down a bit. It won't go stone cold, but the heat extraction is likely a bit less efficient than on a Puma heater.

If the thermostat is working correctly then the main radiator, and any fan pulling air through it, shouldn't have any effect on the running temperature. The cabin heater matrix of course is permanently in the cooling loop, so that's where your heat is going. I bet if you turned the heater off the engine would stay warm for longer on the gauge.

Thats exactly what happens to my Td5.

Maybe i should have been clearer and said when the heater is blowing full on hot. Obviously in the summer, its the A/C thats on, so thats further load on the engine so it should stay at operating temp... Current:D4 HSE

never had this problem in my old 200 or td5?

You can also try a wing scoop as that pushes more air through once its warm it helps the blower.

Rad muff, remove fan, check stat, fit wing scoop Thumbs Up

I know this is an old post but I had the same problem in N. America/Canada last winter in my puma. After changing several thermostats and several other misc items I ended up taking off my viscous fan and installing an electric fan. Problem solved in winter however it took me awhile to sort a fan with enough cfm's in the summer. All good now!

another vote for "normal behavior"

Cooling systems are over dimensioned for the engine to cope with all possible situations.

This is also the reason for electrical or fuel driven additional heaters on many luxury cars these days, especially on bigger engines which need even more power to heat up to normal op temps.

All cars here drop to low within minutes during winter.
