im ultra paranoid about this sort of thing, self locking cars are an abomination.
If the keys are in the car and im not the drivers window is ALLWAYS down. Pom |

That happened to me many years ago with a hire car, put my terrier in and went back into the house to get something and she must have jumped up at the window and pushed the button down. As you do, I shouted at her to tell her the error of her ways and she emptied her bladder on the drivers seat That tested the dangly tree thing on the internal mirror for odours

you could try the unconfirmed trick of calling up the mrs at home on the mobile and getting her to press the remote unlock while holding it close to the phone.....

I had that happen to me once but I had the engine running at the time, it was about minus 10-15 degrees C.
Luckily it happened at home at 5am so I could just hammer on the door until the wife got out of bed. Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

Hi guys,
Yes sorted now, the spare keys were t the farm (my office) so I got my Father-in-law out of bed to come down with the spare. Only a 20 minuted wait. It's very strange, the dog did not step on the keys, I have had that happen before though in a Ford Ranger! The keys were on the cubby tray, shut passenger door, went inside, came out, as I was pressing the drivers door button it locked. I was not impressed as it is by far the coldest day of the year so far! I would be grateful for any hints and tips via PM of course! if you think you know the cause or an easy way to break in should it happen again. Moral of the story, won't be leaving the keys in the Landy again! |

keep the spare keys more accessable ?
put the dog on the tow hitch until you are ready to go ? (probably not a good idea) get a dog crate - safer for you and the dog |
