Fuel contamination
Having recvently bought a new Defender, the warning engine mangement light came on. LR assistance sent us to our dealer, with some codes and they said that the fuel tank breather needed relocating (a common problem it seems).

We booked it in for a couple of weeks time, but today (a week since last time) the car went wrong again. We called out LR assistance again and he had a look. The problem is supposed to be similar to last time, but he wasn't sure about the fuel tank breather. He apparently checked the fuel for contamination with his computer (surely you need a fuel sample?) and said car would need a new fuel pressure regulator.

But, if its the fuel tank breather and theres water in the fuel, how come there is apparently no contamination?

We dont really want to use the car anymore until its fixed (in case it breaks down). We were going to take it to the dealer but it is closed, and so we cant get a courtesy care. Even then we have to pay for a courtesy car, and this doesn't seem fair.

Now we're confused and not really sure what the problem is?

Its a common problem.

The breather lets water into the the fuel system (or the filler cap if the breather gets blocked) do a search on this forum.

The "damage" then can pass to the fuel pressure switch - again a quick search on here will show all.

I relocated mine 200 miles after it was built. Mike
