If you use ACF50 on parts which aren't exposed to the elements, then once a year is fine. For things like crossmembers, I do it every three months - but I wipe it on, not spray it. If you spray it you waste most of it - I spray the rag not the component

Do you reckon pumping Sikaflex into the cappings would be sufficient?
I guess I'll have to wait until Summer as it's been sleeting here and there's water in the nooks and crannies already Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

IMO probably not, as you wont be coating the unseen faces of the capping with an inhibitor effectively, just merely filling the gaps - possibly even trapping moisture 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top Beer 'n Sex 'n Chips 'n Gravy |

Agreed. Also If it's the same Silkaflex I use on my boat which is a very strong cement, once it's in you won't be able to get it out again if you want to re-treat in the future (I will spray behind my capping's at least twice a year!). If it's the same Silkaflex it will be a bit of an over kill, the sealing compound sold by Frosts which is like a runny Dum Dum would be better, you can simply poke your ACF-50 nozzle through the sealant and just plug in the hole afterwards.

Thanks guys - I'll try to get some of this ACF-50 stuff. I'm guessing it's water-repellent so I can use it now to drive some of the damp out too?
Also when you say "cappings", do you mostly mean the long steel strips running along the side of the tub and the flat caps on the back or are there other critical places? Cheers Matt p.s. thinking about stainless hinge bolts... or are the originals better left alone? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
