England 2016 Defender 130 Puma 2.4 HCPU Stornoway Grey
I spent a winter in Bosnia in Defender's and I had a few heart stopping moments on frozen roads with slush on top, my observation was that all terrain tyres wouldn't clear ice from the tread as well as mud tyres.

Either way if you are happy to have a second set of tyres I think you will notice the benefit, although the tyre width will make a big difference, I know that you see a lot of wide snow tyres on Defender's in Iceland but I have found that a slim tall tyre seems to work best for me with UK conditions. Perhaps it depends on the snow and ice conditions?

I am sure there are lots of people on here with bigger mud and snow tyres that might disagree?

I agree, I drove my td5 110 on cooper discoverer snow tyres and it makes a huge difference in grip levels.

On just snow or slush or both?

Matt

both, we regularly went into the Jura and we drove on slush, falling snow and snow about 30cm deep. Parts of the roads near Biere and Lac de Joux are not cleared during the winter and the views are spectacular. having the coopers made it safer for us to travel around those areas.

snow tyres (or any tyres) won't defy the laws of physics but the winter compound make a noticable difference. also, the coopers are stud ready .. although you can't use studs in CH.

Perfect answer Thumbs Up
235s or 265s?
There are theories for and against both... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...
