Didn't the British MOD trial something very similar in the 60's and ditched it cos it wasn't safe/practicable??? 110 D250 SE HT

I can remember as a lad my dads Austin Gypsy having a similar set up on the front hubs and him describing how to use them as he had been taught whilst doing National Service.
