1 If you have to you can hold the starter motor in place on a TD5 to get it going.
2 Zip ties will hold the motor in place but break easily.
3 Not all the bolts are the same size but a bell housing bole with lot's of spacers will hold the starter in place also.
Yep after helping a mate get his rig rescued after a breakdown. We loaded up his gear in mine waved his goodby and then went to leave. No start. After investigation all the bolts to my starter motor were missing and it was just hanging in the engine bay  . To get going I held it in place while the others started it. I then zip tied it in place and we set of. At our lunch stop we shut the rig down. I then discovered that I couldn't hold it in place this time. Nothing in the toolkit would hold it se we took a bell housing bolt out and packed it with spacers and used that. |
