If you have lights when you pull the stick back for flash but nothing when in the middle or pushed forward for just full beam then it will be the actual switch terminals have melted on the stick!

Have used a strip of a coke can in an emergency

VCV would be my bet. Had to replace mine the other day with similar symptoms. Easy to do if you have a couple of 3/8 socket sets. Need to extensions and ujs.

Thinking vcv like you now as it is around the 2000 rpm only with little load on the engine. Doesn’t do it when pulling or sat stationary.

Quiet and runs smoothly. No lights on the dash.
Seemed a little down on power but not much. Maybe just in my head. Definitely smoked though!

Will check pipe work at weekend.

I have also had the back of the contacts on the dashboard switch for the window get damaged.
Easy enough to pull the switch out and check the contacts.

Split the exhaust at the joint just in front of the silencer. This will allow enough room to pull it out the way enough to get it off.
