Thanks for giving me the confidence to do that.
All working again. Took the lock barrel apart and one of the pins had crushed it's spring. Got rid of that one and it works fine now...

You're correct. I removed the barrel and when I push the key in, a few of the brass pins remain projecting out of the barrel.
I assume they should all disappear ... |

Sorry I don't understand, do you mean you needed the gas torch to remove the barrel? |

Injector 2 was the damaged injector. I just unplugged it and the engine ran (surprisingly) nicely on the 3 remaining cylinders. No smoke.
