Aha - the weather icon is back after the last OTA update BUT it still doesn't work as it states the vehicle sim is not present.............. even though my incontrol accounts shows;

Well - I have an outcome and I am happy
After an hour on the phone to the DVLA (who were exceptionally helpful) the garage had 2 options; either:-
