Found the problem!
Dash out managing to disconnect the air con 
Found this blue connector with a burnt out bit, cleaned it, dash back in.
All done in three hours, very pleased no just hop ... |

So the problem appears to be a damaged orange block above and behind the fusebox near the gear stick.
Problem is how do i get to it to fix it as i have air conditioning!

Even more confused now as following the diagram above, hopefully correctly.
I have 12v at the switch at the brown wire
bridged with the blue wire 12v
bridged with red wire 0v
fuses appear ... |

Okay so I just tried bridging the wires together again and no lights but;
Brown wire had 11v to it but when I connected it to the other two it lost all the voltage to zero!

Thank you, I tried bridging the switch contacts together but still had no lights?
Do you have any other ideas or is it an auto electricians role now?
