Until the new switch arrives leave the switch in the "main" position while parked.
This will put a larger air gap between the "flash" contacts.

Unfortunately the stalk still has all the headlamp current running through it so it's only a mater of time before it fails.
More so if you swap between main and dipped lamps at night.

ha, very nice.

Well i'm now about to smash the thing to bits and give up!

The rubbers on the OME do indeed fit neatly into the chassis brackets - so, no washer cups required i guess.

My next check would be to see if the diff breather is clear.
If it's blocked it may me pushing oil past the seal.

It's also possible the replacement outer axle seal is damaged

I suspect the old washers will not fit correctly with the new bushes.
Have a look if there is a difference in bush diameter where it fits through the mounting hole.

x2 for the outer axle seal, I had one go on ours contaminating the wheel bearing grease with oil.
The stub axle will need to be removed to access the seal.

The earth wire will be for the light in the IPF switch so is not needed if swapping to a different switch.
