The bodge that I employed to fit these handles has been nagging me so today I did the job properly and tapped proper threads into the alloy mounting holes. They're M4 (not M5 as I originally thought) and it was quite easy to do except for not being able to use the standard 'T' handle for the tap because of the closeness to the windscreen:

Thank you LRA for your HowTo post and pictures. I'll do exactly the same this weekend and will be able to positively answer to my mom today's question "is it possible to add a handle here?"
