Pretty sure you could fit m54 which is eu4 for well under 10k. I don’t see the appeal of the 2.3 Ford engine esp for 37k

the only issue you have is the dvla wont change things like an n1 v5 to any other classification. just had the email back yesterday from them.

N1 has nothing to do with fuel type though. The 70th Works and Camel V8's that were all converted from EU5 Diesels to EU5 petrols were all N1 and if you run their reg plates from the press shots through the ULEZ they all show as compliant. |

The only worry I'd have is the goal posts moving once the ban on new ICE cars comes in. I can foresee that around that time restriction on ICE might tighten significantly, potentially negating your investment in a conversion. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I think the N55 would be my BMW engine of choice; plus euro 6 complaint.
The chap at JE reckons (twisted also advertise this) that their conversion makes it ULEZ exempt: maybe they are part of some accredited scheme. 2011 CSW XS 90 |

I saw a 110 2.2 advertised with a conversion that added an extra DPF into the system and hence allowed it to be ULEZ exempt - no idea what the company was called but the world of 'Google' may help!!! This must be cheaper than an engine conversion.

This is the company page, says it's conversion works on making your 2.2 Puma tdi engine ULEZ compliant.
https://www.cybrand.co.uk/_files/ugd/ee575...134a10.pdf At a price of £5,500 at time of going to press that equates to 366 journeys so depending how often you are entering inside the M25... |

Looks to be much cheaper, but doesn’t help much if you have a 2.4. 2011 CSW XS 90

I think the issue is what is compliant now will no longer be compliant in a few years. The goalposts will be moved to leave you out of pocket.

This has happened round here, the new LEZ will kill any commercial vehicle manufactured before about 2016.
So all Puma's and HT TD5 etc The local LR specialist's showroom is heaving with cast off "Commercial" Defenders. The LEZ had been suspended for now, but for how long? Prices of Defenders have fallen round here, although they still sell well. The ceiling for most buyers seems to be £20k according to the dealer. They sold a lovely 75,000 mile 110 2.2 SW last month for £17,995. The chassis was excellent with no underseal and only surface rust patches here and there. The body was unmarked "That was worth more, surely" l said. "People won't pay it" was the reply Last edited by lightning on 8th Dec 2022 8:56pm. Edited 1 time in total |

i have 2 emails from the dvla stating that they wont reclass a 7 seat puma (due to pay the caz tax in 2 or more places) as a car or mpv as lr chose to class it as a commercial 10+yrs ago....yes we sent pics as well.
not saying it wont happen or cant happen with an engine change but dvla wont class a 7seater csw as a car etc at the minute |
