Big puddle problem
My 2.2 puma 90 H/T doesn’t like big puddles, this has happened only twice in the last 4 years. Just got back from the Lake District and drove through some big puddles of standing water. The gear change got clunky, slight lack of power and the speedo stopped working. Kept on driving and after about 5 miles or so in traffic it’s all back to normal with the speedo working again, this happened about 4 years ago again driving through standing water.
Am I right in thinking it could be a wiring connector at the transducer getting wet and then drying out from exhaust heat?
Thanks in advance Very Happy

Gear change getting clunky - related with the wiring for the clutch switch, so yes I expect this to be an earthing problem. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Clunky gearing is because the ECU thinks you're not moving. The gearchange is horrid without the speed being supplied to the ECU (via the instrument pack).

If you lose only the speedo and RPM/coolant temp etc still work then yes I think you have water ingress into the speedo transducer connector or the transducer itself.

Thanks Martin, I’ll start with the connection and take it from there.
Thumbs Up
