I bought Big Black instead of a house... And despite having major fall outs with it at times I still don't regret it - I just need to sit behind the wheel....

In fact the only 'regret' as such is that I couldn't afford a 110 USW... But the 90 does me just fine, and can't see that changing.

You as well?
Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

My only regret is that i had to buy it from a company that has such bad, sorry non existent customer service. I will never buy a new vehicle from LR again!

€935 on the 08. The 2011 Defender costs me €935 aswell as a Private owing to the reclassification thing otherwise it would be €2200 per year. As the 2011 is a "commercial" and I tax it as a "private" it costs €935.Taxing a "commercial" as "private" they go by the old engine cc system so I save quite a bit.If I could tax it as a commercial it would be €288 per year. It is very difficult to tax anything as a commercial here as you have to prove that is for your business. Even then there a restrictions as to use.The reclassification of the Defender to commercial brought the purchase price down dramatically otherwise we would not have the 2011.Without the commercial reclassification loophole thing the 110 csw would run nearly €60,000 with a road tax of €2200 per year. The 2.2 will be slightly cheaper at €823 per year. Bought the Puma 2.4 incase the loophole closed, and I was not keen on a DPF. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Mr. Spudfan
we sure are lucky boys aren't we ? (and CR too ). Explaining the VRT loophole situation to neighbours and other inquisitive people who admire the Land rover in carparks (and how it has now finished !) always results in their disappointment when realising that they will be paying a lot more than me if they want one. But ultimately its the government who are the losers as 13.3 % VRT and € 935 is better than zero which is what it will be now as nobody will be buying at 60k and 2100 tax.

Don't think it is finished. I think it is still in place but with a maximum of 5 seats and a fairly hefty price increase since August.Think the standard vehicle here in the future could be the 110 USW,5 seats and the rear panels. Then again you could be right as things might have changed. Like you I have had numerous conversations regarding the 110 and it's reclassification and it's merits, in the most unlikliest of places.Anyway glad I got in on the act incase things have chaged.
On another subject-I hope you got your turf out by now, if not you are in bother!!!! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

No regrets. 5000 miles in the 110 CSW since July, much of it with a large caravan on the back. Much better than the predecessor Disco 2 - apart from the hitching awkwardness which an NAS step might sort out. Ian One wife - livid
