And as if Mike has been reading this thread... He released this video this morning... More useful info on why the LT230 leaks and his fixes
https://youtu.be/AuDkBg5604o FYI he really isn't a million miles from you, at least on the same continent. Could be worth dropping him a line if you just want to chat with someone. |

1992 Defender 110 200 tdi 188,000 miles still on it's origional LT 230.
Was there not a time when people took diffs and transfer boxes from the Discovery and fitted them to the Defender. It did raise the over all gearing even in low range. The Discovery started with the 200 tdi. OOPs checking back I see this has already being mentioned 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai Last edited by spudfan on 27th Jul 2022 10:02am. 05 Defender TD5 on original transfer box at 250K here.
Discovery and defender diff ratios are the same at 3.54, it was series land rovers people were fitting range rover diffs into to raise the gearing. |

I always thought the Discovery diffs were slightly higher in ratio. My mistake and am happy to be corrected. You indeed learn something every day 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
