Is the first wire for the handbrake switch perhaps?
Second wire looks aftermarket? Due to the way it’s taped to the seat box..? 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2 |

I would (almost) put money on neither of those being there when the vehicle left the factory - not even Landrover would do something that shoddy! It is, I suspect, evidence of an inept previous owner.
The only sure way to find out what they are is to find the ends. Once you do this, all will become clear. Either that or cut them and see what no longer works. |

I’ll have a good look once I’ve taken out the mats. The weird thing is that the one taped to the front of the seat box is buried under a load of factory foam - it doesn’t look right, but I can’t think why a PO would have removed the seat box rubber covering - that’s the only way they would have had access to tape it.
Edit: the start and end points of these wires look about right: https://www.lrworkshop.com/connectors/defender-2007/C0091 Just need to work out where the routing should have been. Working theory is that when the body was off while I was having the chassis galvanised that they’ve ran the wires through the can instead of under it. |

All I can say is that on my 2007 Puma there are no factory wires between the carpet and the floor.
