Think of the cost of someone who can do no work themselves on one and puts it into be restomodded. 100s of hours at say £50+ vat per hour plus parts/materials then cost of buying a escort. £65k doesn't grab ne as unrealistic. I would imagine there will be a few restorations around with new shells old id though.

yeah your right about that with restore projects with new shells on, some classic minis and MGBs will be the same.
I know these lads do a mk1 escort shell, My dad often wondered where all these escorts were coming from, i showed him this, and i said some of them may not be " ford" Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

over the last few years most Ford shells have been coming back out of South Africa I believe.........
these "new" shells are very new AFAIK so aren't having an impact as yet |
