Lower seat belt bracket bolts p/n
Hello,

Some of the front seat belt bracket bolts (base of b pillar) have started to rust on my 2.2 puma. They have captive washers built into the bolt heads.

Have looked everywhere for part numbers but only found a 300tdi diagram that shows a bolt with separate washers. Trying to keep things original.

Any ideas on the part number? They’re M5 by about 25mm.

Thanks

Scarra

I think you'll find they are actually normal M8 x 25mm hex flange head setscrews, FS108257L.

Some suppliers list this as a hex head, some as hex flange head, the latter is the part you need, but there is nothing special about it and you could potentially go to a fastener supplier and save money.

I think your M5 must be a typo, that would be way too small for a seat belt anchor.

I've come across these bolts with a captive washer in several locations on my 110 and they're pretty neat. I'm sure that their benefit is only in easier assembly though and that a regular bolt and washer is fine as a substitute. Darren

This intrigued me enough to venture out to have a look at my '07 DC.

The heads are 10mm AF so the screws must be M6 not M8 (which would be 13mm AF) so my earlier post is wrong in every possibly way - sorry! Embarassed

It is impossible to tell without removing them from my vehicle whether they are hex head with a normal washer or have captive loose washers. From an engineering perspective an M6 x 25mm hex setscrew with a Form C washer would do the job perfectly.

I'll see if I can find the genuine part number however...

This is difficult to track down. The page in the parts book with the seat belt mounting gusset doesn't show any fixings for it:

The page with the seat box fixings doesn't show the gusset, but lists the screw (item 9) as SH106206 or FS106206.

FS106206 is described as "BOLT AND WASHER ASSY - HEX.HEAD" and "bolt M6 x 20 flange head" (ie contradictory descriptions, they can't both be right), whilst SH106206 is described as "SCREW" and "bolt M6 x 20 flange head", which is marginally less contradictory.

A Google search for each of these shows variously flange head and non-flange head offerings.

Also note that these are 20mm long. It may be that if the seat belt gusset plate is present the length is increased to 25mm.

Lots of the LR flanged fasteners have reduced size heads - e.g. a 10mm AF head on a M8 fastener.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

There's a way of decoding some of the fastener part numbers

http://fuddymuckers.co.uk/tools/lrfasteners.html

A Google Image search of the part number can also help ID the head type.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
