Injector Refurb or not? Ballooning tip? Leaking
Hi,
I have a 2007 defender 90 2.4 puma it had a new 2015- short block from ford fitted at 77k miles and it’s now at 89k and still on the original injectors. Front injector seal has just started leaking causing pressure to come out the breather and some oil. I’m not sure if this is a good time to maybe get new or refurbish the injectors when I have them out anyway. It is stage 2 mapped so injectors could be working harder than normal.

What do people think? Do these injectors need refurbished ? Are they known for giving bother ?

I am currently just shy of 250k miles and my injectors have never been out of the engine, so I would say that yours should be fine for quite a while yet.

I should think it depends on your driving style and use.

Mine does an awful lot of short journeys and quite often sits at idle whilst I'm doing jobs on the farm (naughty I know). When I pulled my injectors and had them tested , two failed . I bought two more and the difference was noticeable but not extreme.

Over the past seven years I've replaced all four injectors.

I imagine a good leg stretch weekly and some higher RPM's once in a while would do my engine a world of good ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

Ballooning
I have just removed the front leaking injector and found it very dirty and full of carbon build up, the tip also looks tapered or ballooned, does this happen when the injector seal goes? Is that injector useable?

Just replace with genuine spec new ones... personally never found recon to be good. Usually more of a con than a recon.

I can help with new ones if needed. IRB

Yeah I am going to have to replace that one anyway, the injector seat where the washer seals is damaged so likely why it was leaking. How much can you supply new ones for?

Hi,

New genuine spec Denso injectors are £180+ vat each or £640 + vat for 4 - with all new seals and clamp bolts.

Brand new, not recon etc and no surcharge.

Can programmed to ECU and set up if needed. IRB
