Oil in Exhaust Manifold

I'm finally fitting the new turbo along with a load of other jobs, I've whipped the inlet manifold off which I'll be giving a good clean.

There's obviously now oil in the exhaust manifold too, what would be the best way to get this cleaned out?

The manifold gasket was in 4 pieces when I took it off.

Paraffin or some kind of solvent-based cleaner will bring it up nicely.

Cheers Retro, do I need to worry about getting solvent etc. down the intakes?

Be worth doing the intercooler too as it will look the same on the inside and degrade its cooling ability.

I generally use Meths too then leave it on a radiator indoors to evaporate off

I’d use a rag for the head ports rather than spraying anything in there.

I've nicked the old one off my other engine, clean as a whistle. Cleaned out the ports as best I could with a rag dipped in degreaser.
Full size intercooler being put on along with the new turbo, silicone hoses, XL rad etc. I've been stockpiling parts for a year so while the gearbox is out and I've finally got time, I'm chucking it all on.

Yep, cheers Clayton. If you fancy a cuppa mate, feel free to pop round. I can show you what a doddle fitting a slick shift is now the gearbox is out.
