It should be bonded to the door card. It's the anchor point for the plastic pin that attaches the door card to the door. If you remove it gently without breaking it you should be able to glue it back on 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

It was broken before I took the door trim off & bits just fell off when I removed the door trim along with some empty .22 cases. Cheers Guy May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |

The more pressing issue and possibly why you took the door card off looks like the frame is cracked to the left of the lock.
But in answer to the question, they are actually formed into the door cards, looks like it’s been glued on in the past. Use gorilla glue is the best I’ve found for mine. Hold my beer and watch this! |

That crack is a standard LR fitting for defender doors.

Seems worse on my puma than any of my others 90s
I’d put it down to the steel skin not being as flexible Hold my beer and watch this! |

The split in the steel of my door is pretty bad. Worse than shown in my pic.
I am pleased to know " That they all do that, Sir!" I was trying to track down why my alarm wasn't working properly & blowing fuses - I have fixed it ,in that, I have fully checked the wiring , repaired another dodgy/bodge by the previous owner regarding the window motor. I cannot get the problem to replicate itself ( always disconcerting). Other than the owners handbook has anyone got a list of the various functions available off the fob as sometimes my horn sounds on arming , sometimes it doesn't.It would be nice to understand what it is supposed to do. Also a rapid blinking red light on the dash ( 2007 Puma) suggests replace battery in fob - I have tried 4 batteries & nothing changes. ( Brand new ones en route just to make sure ).Is there ANOTHER function for the rapid flashing red light? Cheers Guy May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |

The horn on mine only sounds if a door or bonnet has not been properly shut.
The flashing red light is, I think, supposed to be rapid for about 30 seconds after arming, then settles down to a regular slow flash. If the remote handset battery falls below a pre-determined level, the handset will transmit an additional RF signal code to the anti-theft system module. This signal is relayed to the instrument cluster indicator which emits 2 rapid flashes every 0.5 seconds to inform the driver that the remote handset battery needs replacing. |

I did as well but i fixed mine without welding it and is still good 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

Love to know how you did it Clayton; I don't have access to a welder (or the faintest idea what to do with one if I had) so was thinking about riveting some kind of strengthening plate on...somehow. Of course any repair will have to be put off until I can face the ordeal of repairing a bunch of those stupid door card clips, which I'm bound to break when I take the door apart |

I found it very therapeutic repairing those clips that when all was done the door card will say on good and solid and when you have to take it off again it will come off hopefully all intact If your interested on how i fixed my door split without welding it, you can find it on " My 110 Millie " about halfway down on page 32 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Thanks Clayton, I'm going to give it a go, mine is cracked a bit further along towards the front of the door so I'm not sure if there is a solid fixing point like you had. I do however, have a collection of filler and Gaffa tape in that area so a repair has previously been attempted - unless they come like that from the factory - which is always a possibility with JLR I suppose.
