Softer riding 110 stw, how it make?

Hello, I need some advices on defender suspension. I have a neck injury that is causing problems travelling with my cars, Defender and also other cars. I'd like to try to mod soften the suspension. My car D110stw 2006 has now the original springs with Koni heavy track shocks. I have had also lowering springs (H&R) when I drove much on-roads, but I drive more through forest paths and roads nowadays and I changed old ones back. I don't want to buy Toyota...

I have roof tent and maybe about 200kg extra weight in my car. Sometimes a bit more also. Riding is better if I have much last in my car and camber back.

But, how I would get more softer riding. How OME or bearmach, britparts etc prings? HD, MD or LD springs. Standard or lift?

My friends RR classic V8 rides much softer and it seems to be about similar "under car" than defender

I would go OME2752 in the back and OME2761(or BA2106 Bearmach) in front . Puma 110" SW

You may want to consider spring isolators too.
They won't be game changing, but they do remove a lot of minor bumps and jolts and combined with good springs and dampers all add up to a nicer ride.
Also Dynamatting your seat boxes and Seatbox base can dampen vibration and feels a better ride.

I use genuine standard springs on mine, lowered springs or HD springs will all be hard compared to STD.
So can lift springs too depending on if they are soft lift springs or HD lift springs. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Hi,
Ask your friend what kind of damper he have on his rr.
I have put old type of damper on my defender and it is better.

Phil current : defender 110 sw 2.2 puma 2012 and 230.000km today and
again my Range Rover VM2.5 engine from 1992 and 528.000km today.

Thanks all answers. I have isolators in front. I dont know how it helps there. Not much or nothing. I have also poly puches there. They have been there about 110 000km there now. Maybe those are not good yet.

Are those bearmach and ome springs progressive springs. Whether the travel is more comfortable thanks to the progressive spring?

I have driven my car 220tkm and the original springs have been there perhaps 180tkm. Are the springs already dead. How long time and much kilometres they stay good. Would the new standard spring help to provide more comfort again? These suspension things are a bit difficult. It is expensive to buy and test many ones 😉 defender 110 td5 2006

I certainly believe it made my ride quieter.... Less road noise through the vehicle from the tyres... Worth doing IMHO for such a small price tag...

Interesting, thanks MartinK. Now I have to think a bit and analyze riding more. Back or front... or both is too hard for my neck in my defender defender 110 td5 2006

I measured the length of the springs in my car when it was in the park and the spring is 230mm in front and 290mm in the back. I have thought about installing (perhaps) a winch, and it increases the weight of about 35kg.

Does the D90 rear spring fit the D110. For example NRC 9462. I dont need much lift but a bit can become if it will become. Not so easy this kind of suspension thing

I did say spring isolators would help, not be life changing. Combined with a change of spring the two can add up to a beneficial result. Then of course there is dampers. Never found Polybushes any good, worse in fact than factory. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
