After replacing the clutch I have shifted the problem to the front prop UJ which is squeaking like a rubber-duck now.
My car is lifted by 2''. Any recommendations on how to improve this part of drive-line? I am thinking on Double Cardon wide angle propshafts. Cheers! edit: [SOLVED] Janusz www.yahodeville.com Last edited by yaho on 20th Jul 2011 6:54am. Edited 1 time in total |

In my case it goes worse every day.
Started week ago (few days after clutch change) as shy, vague whistle. Today it is loud squeak, squeak, squeak... Janusz www.yahodeville.com |

The UJ's normally suffer when the car is lifted....It's best to put castor correction arms on really, then a wide angled prop is a good bet also...
Just replacing the uj will cure your squeek for a while, but will soon come back. |

IMHO for Pumas it is compulsory to fit a CV propshaft+castor correction bushes or radius arms. Unlike prevoius Defenders, the engine and drivetrain are tilted back 6º. FYI std front propshafts are arlready wide angle in Pumas. Puma 110" SW

2" lift and double cardon front prop for me - only very mild vibration but decided not to put any more strain than necessary on the other components

Replaced (new and old on the picture).
See how much damage was done on the old propshaft. It has done 46.000 km, last 12.000 the car was lifted by 2'' All the clunking, squeaks, transmission backlash has gone - it sounds now like any other car Seems strange - I can hear nothing now Click image to enlarge Janusz www.yahodeville.com |

Can I ask where you guys got your DC props from? I don't suppose the front prop from a Disco2 fits (I have a spare)?
Thanks. |

i had a 2" lift and noise was bad, put in a new double propshaft and the problem was gone, any lift on a TD4 will need a replaced Propshaft.
I have to wait till my new 110 comes (with the 2,2 motor) so i can fit heavyduty suspension with a 2" lift and i'm sure i'll need a new propshaft too. |

How much!!
we get truck propshafts custom made when we stretch truck wheelbases, these are sometimes 4inches diameter tube and 6 feet long, these only cost a couple of hundred quid. contact Dunning and Fairbank at Leeds (google them) and they will make watever propshafts you want at a reasonable price. |
