I don't think I'd like an auto with a 2.2,...not enough power. ,.... Acceleration wouldn't be too flash,....for me that is,....Of course I know that some drivers have different priorities.
Jeez, there's some nice stuff in that JE catalogue! Pickles. |

I see some advantage in the relatively low 1st gear of the 6speed autobox. Taking into account that the torque converter amplifies the torque (to my knowledge this led to the 4 speed autoboxes of ZF (but others also) having a first gear ratio that was rather close to the second gear of manual boxes) and finding a first gear which is somewhat close to the first of the MT82 ... I could imagine accerelation from standstill and towing capability is quite good. Shifts will be much faster than I could do. Then there are lots of remapped 2.2Tdcis around with sufficient power.. In the end a question of personal preferences.
I have another question: does either of the autobox conversions (be it Ashcroft or JE) get rid of bloody output shaft/coupling of the MT82 ? |

I read somewhere that you need the specific 3.2 from the transit, the ranger version requires more work.
As for the auto box I’ve been speaking to DT engine solutions about their conversion as it’s all hydraulic, as there’s no parts for the compushift at present, abiet mines a td5 but he’s done a few on Puma’s |

Welcome to the forum foremost, we like photos here!
I think it's generally considered the 3.2tdci isn't worth the effort and there are better options. Dt Engines and 4x4 Fabrications, to name a couple, in the UK offer lots of options. Good luck. Hi, thanks.
i’ve decided to fit a toyota 2.8gd6 the whole conversion works out about the same as doing the JE auto conversion on the 2.2 I recently had a GM l83 fitted to my 90, the way fuel prices are now i might just park it |

Nene Overland offer a 3.2 TDCi conversion.
https://www.neneoverland.co.uk/services/engineering-performance/ I have an Alive remap with BIG intercooler on my 2.2 and I find that's enough. |
