Problem with a flip out is that it covers many buttons unless your altering the layout.

I also have a Pioneer DEH-X7800DAB, I fitted it last night.
The bluetooth seems to work well, the DAB is decent quality but only seems to be able to pick up the BBC from half way along my commute which is is annoying. I need to fiddly with the aerial. The FM reception is much better than the Sony (?) unit I had in previously.

What Aerial do you have standard?

The DAB one is a little stick on unit that doesn't seem to work very well.

The FM one is the original wing top unit that never worked very well, although was curiously unaffected by being broken off by an errant tree.

I think I have narrowed it down to the Kenwood KDC-X7200DAB and Pioneer DEH-X7800DAB. I'll do a little more research tonight, just in case I've missed something.

I'm going to avoid a flip screen and stick with the simple look of single din, but thanks for your offer.

I also did not want a flip out screen as I have too many switches

The infotainment unit is too much moneys for me.

I'm deciding between the Kenwood KDC - X7200DAB and Alpine CDE - 196 DAB.
Kenwood is 150 and the Alpine 170. I could find nothing wrong with the Pioneer 7800 but am going on the 'you get what you pay for' theory - maybe I should stop blabbering and commit to the Alpine.

Anyone with experience of either?

Just remember with the flip out unit (at least the Pioneer one) there is a button on the front panel which allows you to put the screen back in if you want to access the buttons, plus you can change the angle and distance that the screen sits, plus you can stop it opening from start up. I've been using the unit for over 6 months now and have no issues with it, and certainly no issues from an accessing buttons perspective Thumbs Up

I have the Pioneer too, agree with X4CAC. Apple car play is pretty good too. I like the SIRI voice recognition thingy for the phone! Only problem is the crap defender speakers, the sound is rubbish. Is it possible to replace the speakers?

Get the Focal upgrades off MudUK. Really easy to fit once you get your head around wires. Cannot tell you how much better they sound. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

You'd be surprised how good the Focal ES100K kit is without a sub. Do you have a Puma defender? If so it all pretty much just slots in. I like to think I'm an expert now but Custom90Steve was a massive help among others.

My puma had all the cabling for woofers, tweeters, sub and rear speakers ready to go. Have just bought a pair of focal PC130 speakers for the rear too - seems a shame to waste the wires. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews
