Been years since I had one, but, think I had to alter the port numbers on the laptop, as it wouldn’t allow connection to the usb sockets I had, or something like that.

The menu button on mine isn't functioning and the way to connect to my laptop is to have the nanocom software up then plug the usb lead in and turn the unit on with the OBD socket, couple of in and outs seems to cycle the Nanocom into "No signal received etc" but if you leave it alone it goes through the initial start up on its little screen then pops over to "Remote" all by itself.
It doesn't make a difference on which USB port I use and I think that we've got so used to modern computerickery being quite swift that we easily forget that the Nanocom is Stone Age programming and is quite slow in comparison |

it's possible that the USB port on the nanocom is loose and getting data only from one way.
I had this before and changing the USB cable solved it. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island. |

Serial out of unit to usb , will see if i have another cable,, as still not working,, either after renaming the com port again,, or having it plugged in, and powered the namacom up via the OBD California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

The cables are easy to source, they're computer to printer cables, that's where mine came from. I just used to pinch it out of the printer, life is so much easier now with a wireless printer
