Posted this on one of my FB groups, what do you guys think?
I’ve started, slowly, getting kit together for this summers mega trip. 6 weeks away with the Eriba Caravan and Roof tent. Plymouth to Roscoff, down through France to the Pyrenees, across to Barcelona then down to La Duquesa, near Gibraltar. There we are going to drop the Eriba. Then off to Morroco with the roof tent for 2 weeks. Back to Spain, collect the Eriba then home via Portugal and the Peninsular war battlefields to Santander. Not a bad idea tbh, beats using used army socks, sand, gravel and moss like we were taught years ago!

When I've travelled off the beaten track I've always taken bottled. You can usually buy 5L bottles which helps to reduce the waste if that's a priority.

That’s a fair comment, and we should do what we can to reduce waste. Be interesting to see how fast it decants, as I’ve seen some filtersthat just trickle and can be frustrating in use. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

I think this is a fantastic idea. Dirty water filtered to clean water within the same practical large storage device. Excellent.

I've got the lifesaver Jerry can. Brilliant bit of kit! Used it last year for a 5 week trip away to Morocco and it performed faultlessly, lovely clean water from whatever the source. We were often quite remote in Western Sahara and just filled up from wells.etc. Environmentally for me it's a no brainer, it's so disheartening to see the piles of plastic on the edge of towns , to have less of a footprint in remote places is important, especially in countries like Morocco where the recycling infrastructure does not exist to the same degree as it does here.
Go for it! Clean water whenever or wherever you want and safe in the knowledge your not adding another load of plastic into the environment.  |

It’s pressurised so hopefully the flow rate should be ok, and the videos I’ve seem to show a decent flow rate. 2010 Defender 110 Station Wagon, Santorini Black. |

I like the look of the Jerry Can type but a bit too expensive for me, these seem very good value compared with the larger Jerry Cans or their smaller bottle types and should be easier to carry/store in the vehicle. 2010 Defender 110 Station Wagon, Santorini Black. |

We also got the jerry can version. Guess it all depends on your travel ideas. Staying in Europe probably not worth it with the availabilty of good bottled water. Going further afield though and even bottled water can be dodgey so for us an ideal backup to our onboard system.
