Hi .. I’ve just done this job today.
There’s no need to extend any of the cables. This is what I did to get it to fit. For the wiring harness for some of the switches I took off the fabric insulation, separated the cables for the switches on the left side and re-wrapped them in fabric harness tape. Did the same for the rest. You then have separated cables that can go down the left of the head unit and across the top. They then reach the new panel (inc hazard light switch) on the right. I still couldn’t get it to fit until I finally took off the metal bracket at the back that runs from the tubular cross bar up to air vents. It’s attached by 5 plastic screw fixings. I then just made sure all the ISO connectors etc were on the right of the head unit out of the way and not behind the unit getting in the way. It’s still a tight squeeze but fitted. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

Hi .. no, I didn’t need to. The clock sits on the top of the head unit and it still fits although it’s tight. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

Is your fascia a two piece or single piece? Mine is an alpine unit. I removed the rear bracket too. But sits around 4mm high. I think I’m gonna cut the clock so it can sit flush.

Mine is a single piece including the vents and clock. I have a pioneer head unit. I did read on here people needing to apply a heat gun to the vent pipes behind to give themselves an extra 5mm. It is very tight and if i take it apart again I’ll do this to give a slightly better fit. I also did read of someone filing off a bit from the clock. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

I had to cut about a 1cm triangle Off the bottom corner of my clock to get the top vent part to sit right. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

What sort of size cable do I need to get to extend the loom? Cause I’m planning to do some switches of spotlights to the cubby box. Thanks.
