It may well be the EGR causing the MAF faults as the two go hand in hand.

The EGR is fully active but with a blanking plate with small hole. Should t be too hard to take the plate out and see how things go. Thanks for the suggestion.

That may well be your issues, years ago many tried it with that method. Some had no issues, some had immodate issues and others the EML occasionally.
Mine is deleted and blanked completely, prior to that with active EGR I had no end of issues. The EGR can throw out MAF readings hence metering of airflow May throw a DTC. These are possibilities at least. Good luck.👍🏻 ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Thanks again, I’ll give t a go, I thought fitting a brand new genuine egr with the blank with hole might be a lasting solution but I was forgetting I was working on a Defender!

I too am battling the 1103 fault nightmare.
I have the standard map, no tuning. I have a new OEM MAF sensor, I have a NEW EGR (no blank or small hole blank - i used too but had it removed when the new EGR went in.) My EML will stay off for a few days and then it will light up again. I don't know what to do. I also have the under-boost problem. I'm sure it is also the Turbo Veins sticking. Is there anything worth doing to fix this or is a new Turbo the only option. Thanks Rob |

Regarding turbo veins, take the actuator arm off the actuator by removing the (easy to lose) circlip. Move the arm up and down and feel for any sticking. Mine was sticking at the top (versus gravity) end, it took a lot of force to get it moving again. Ive more information in another thread somewhere, have a look for it.
I believe you can get your turbo repaired - they replace the vein mechanism but given min ehad done 140K miles i felt it prudent to replace the whole unit with a recon one. |

Thanks I will take a look at the Actuator arm.
When I am driving on the highway at speed and the then the engine loses power and the 6th is worthless, I pull to a stop, turn off the engine and then turn back on. It fixes the problem. Obviously I can't just do this all the time, I need to find out what to do. |
