Well today was one of the worst days of the year, We had to put my pal of 14 years down ( trying to fight back the tears now as I post this) His name was prince, me and my dad bought him from a Scottish farm that bread boarder collies.
One hell of a pal he was! He used to get right in on the act when I wound our Cat up, I used to get the dog to sniff him, the dog would " heard him", by butting him. Cat used to shout like hell Also I used to leave him some of my takeaways so he could have a decent treat. I found he liked the chicken tikka and chicken curry ( very mild) from the Indians more than the chicken from the Chinese. As he used to go nuts with the Indian. Last night I had a beer with him and bought a chow mein and did what I always did. He was still interested but couldn't get out of his bed, due to age catching up on him rapidly. So I lifted him out and he got his share for the very last time. Today was very, very painful. i lay with him on the kitchen floor for 20 mins, just to spend the time holding him etc. here is a small collection of photos, not recent ones, as i don't think they are worthy of the internet. These are the ones of him in his prime. I did have a few nick names for him, I used to call him me gusts, ( fort augustus, from his Scottish routes) and fox head, as he was like a fox We had rave Prince 2004 to 2018 (RIP Me gusts) Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Thoughts are with you procta..... lost my baby at 14 in July. It'll get easier and you'll also be grateful you had the choice and courage. They leave a big hole. We were going to have a break ...... which lasted 10 weeks until this arrived

Sorry for your loss, Procta.
I've had to do that job four times. Three of mine and one with a friend. It doesn't get any easier. The worst job in the world. As Jim says, time is a great healer and you know your healing when the thoughts are just the happy memories you hold. |

Absolutely feel your pain.
We had to put our 2 girls to sleep 5 weeks apart - The earth split in 2! Fly was 6 and Rizzy was 13. all 3 are rescues, Fly (Polish Rottie in the middle) She was 3 when we rescued her and had had 3 or 4 litters (owner wasn't sure) Alf (Siberian Rottie on the right) He was 2 when we rescued him with Fly - He was emaciated, Just skin and bone. And Rizzy on the Left came from a family that couldn't cope with her. Click image to enlarge We have our boy still and he is my world now.
