Trying to find a better view out of my rear view mirror I find the standard one just shows a lot of the spare wheel that covers the rear door window. So Maybe retrofitting a camera somewhere above the rear door or in the rear bumper with a LCD screen attached to the original mirror would give me a better view not only while I'#m driving along but also double up as a parking aid?
Has anybody fitted one? What's the best kit, position for the rear camera, where did you pick up the live feed as it would need to be live all the time the ignition is on. Just thought I'm guessing without checking the screen cant be any bigger than the mirror due to the sun visors ![]() Anyway all comments and pictures would be much appreciated ![]() https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIRELESS-CAR-BU...rk:21:pf:0 2010 Defender 90 HT The longer I live..... I had the defender up grades set up, but the mirror did not fit between the sun visors and the mirror mounting was all wrong so sent it back. I have seen this kit fitted but there was a lot of work cutting down the sun visors and making a custom mirror mount not OME .

No, but, TBH, a simple twist and they fit.
The best thing, the streaming video on the rear, zero blindspots, even when dark, and ZERO reflection in the rear view mirror back off the rear window / door, like before. Need to connect the revering positive feed wire, and then have the back up grids on the mirror. ![]() |

Did you mount the rear camera inside the rear door or attach on the bodywork outside? Any pictures? 2010 Defender 90 HT

Outside, for a clear picture on the rear mirror.
The rear camera comes with a bracket, I slightly elongated the hole in the bracket with the dremel, removed the rear washer nozzle and put the bracket behind the nozzle, closed it all up and fitted the camera. You need to drill a small hole to feed the camera wire back into the cabin and put in a small grommet Once the wire is in the cabin, follow the wire along the roof line back to the front, and to the mirror. Install was 1 hour, max. |

Have you tested the parking mode yet, that seems a great feature to record when away from the car, just wondered if its any good?

Not yet, I had a Blackvue dash cam hooked up before, that was powered by a small box that kept the device on for 6 hours after I locked the doors.
I will be trying to connect that power lead up, at the moment it's just plugged into a spare 12v socket under the seat. |

does it need a permanent live for that feature? and a separate wire.
It looks very impressive. |

Not sure, I never hooked that box up.... but must have been a live, the box turned it off when the voltage dropped to save the battery
