I believe the A/T3's have been around a while now (3-4years?). They get very good reviews both on and off-road. The only thing I don't like about them is purely aesthetically they look too road biased.
From what I've read the Nokian's are fantastic snow tyres but a bit OTT for just UK use. I'm sure those far more knowledgeable than myself will be along shortly.  James

Happy with mine, though I only did 1,100 dry miles with them. Now for sale elsewhere here, as I sold the truck that I fitted them to. Rob

Yea I had searched the forum and the A/T3s generally appear to get good reviews.
However, I think the 4S is a new derivative: https://www.moderntiredealer.com/news/7299...-tire-line I’m guessing it’s too soon for anyone to have used them in any kind of wintery conditions. I think I’m just going to go for them! Kind regards Stu |

Another one to consider is the nokian rotiiva at.
No experience of it but the arctic truck editions of hilux and isuzu pickups come with them. |

Scotm, funny you should mention them,
I've had my truck for 5.1/2 yrs so the existing BFGs are 6+ unknown yrs. And fine as they are famously hard wearing - but they are wearing. I have narrowed to 2, Conti cross contact AT or Nokian Rotiiva AT. Anyone with first hand info let me know.
Web browsing says that the Nokian tho notionally 'summer' tyres by their standard, are very good in snow and generally excellent quiet road tyres but wear quicker that others. Er was trying to say that they have made an 'AT plus' whatever that is

But no idea what the difference is. Might write to them & see if they answer ..  Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz

I've had 235 85 16 Cooper Discoverer AT3s on for a couple of years & very pleased with them - before that I was putting up with BFG ATs sliding around on wet tarmac waiting for them to wear out.
The Coopers grip wet tarmac like I would expect a modern tyre too, also better on compact snow, probably due to the sipes. The only down side vs. the BFG is the looks, as my Coopers have rather plain side-walls. Looking at the new versions they have made the side walls more aggressive, particularly on the XLT. I considered the Contis, but reviews suggested the Coopers performed better. If I were to buy Nokians, I'd go for the full-on winter tyre and swap them over to the Coopers for the summer but havn't felt the need so far. If I were buying again now I'd stick with Coopers. I like the look of those XLTs but don't understand the difference between those and the 4S & LT? |

This is what Nokian tech cust service said about theirs:
(email) " We call Nokian Rotiiva A/T as summer tyre cause we have better ones to real winter like 'Hakkapeliitta' brand. I'm sure that in Central European winter you will survive with Rotiiva A/T . Sorry, no plans so far to build up 235/85R16 Nokian Rotiiva A/T Plus. Main differnce between Rotiiva A/T and Rotiiva A/T plus is deeper groove depth and different tread compounding. On A/T Plus we have better cut resistance. " I said we are in the UK, I like the dry suggestion that we don't have real winters! On the whole he is right of course. I'm going for these. In the end every tyre has every possible reviw from 0 to 10,

I agree. I had cooper stt pro, got what is called heel and toe condition did 20000 miles. I returned them to avon tyres and got 80% of the money for the 4 I had used and 100% on the spare. Bought bfg Alterrain and have been reading here that they aren't very good either although so far i am happy. Fabio |

ppad - how are you getting on with the Nokians?
I not enjoying my BFG AT2 in the wet now after 2 years / 30k and thinking of changing. |
