Not me, use a manual switch as it never takes more than a minute or so to clear the screen and it is always clear by the time I am ready to move off.
Made my own harness which is two separate circuits (operated by a single switch) as each side of the screen has its own element, early ones had the connections at the top (2 x +VE on the edges and a common -VE in the centre) but more recently they have been at the bottom. I believe that single element screens are now available with just two connections?
Screens are readily replaced under my windscreen cover.
Looking back through my files I think I fitted the heated screen / mirrors in 2002 and in all that time I have never forgotten to turn them off. The only time I have purposely left the screen on for a prolonged period is in snow.ONE LIFE, GET IT!

I've done two looms, one for Dad's 2006 Td5 (replicating factory wiring) and one for my soft top. Both with genuine timer units. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
