Drove down the road to Lode Lane with my boy, and my Dad and spent the day taking the D5 and full fat Range Rover through their paces.
Amazingly capable vehicles and far more comfortable than a defender, so much so the boy fell asleep on the jungle track 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |

So not today but yesterday.
I finished twiddling with the new brake servo in the morning and then took the oldest boy and good lady wife to Losely Park. Being driven around off road in a convertible Ewok by a 13 year old is quite daunting, but he did very well indeed. I was quite surprised at how tight and tricky the course was given that they are catering for non drivers, wouldn't have minded a go in the Defender. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. Today I've made a small offroad trip, a bit over 60Km, with my girls, in he hills nearby. Reached 870m in altitude and have some breathtaking photos. Sadly I caught no wild horses or cows with the camera.

Today I had a healthy rust shower and then sprayed myself liberally with an invigorating Waxoyl/diesel mix.
Click image to enlarge I think some of it may have accidentally got onto the chassis of my Ninety soft-top. |

You'd better wash it off your truck. Heaven knows what would happen if you left it there |

It's an hydraulic "scissor-lift".
Cheaper and more mobile than bigger lifts but the framework can get in the way if you want to work directly underneath. However, it wasn't too difficult to access the drain plugs on the main and transfer gearboxes on the Ninety yesterday, and side work is easy - you can sit on a chair! You can also move it from shed to shed, or take it with you if you move (but it is heavy). I'm afraid this is the only half-decent pic I have of it. (I always give it extra "safety" support with wood blocks, just for peace of mind). Click image to enlarge |
