That's an aftermarket kit, so it wouldn't be covered by any details in the vehicle handbook.
I can't find the instructions for the 29190504RC kit online, can you post them? Pin 13 is the ground for pin 9, not ignition 12V! You should be looking at pin 10.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

It appears to have a voltage sensing relay in it to control the pin 10 (ignition). Is that what you've got fitted still? It connects straight to the battery, and then in the usual place under the wheelarch. If it picks up the permanent supply from the wheelarch connector, then this is supplied from Fuse 2 (20A) 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Yes, you’re right Martin, pin 10!, just a mistake as I typed! I did test the correct ones
 The fridge feed seems ok, or will be when I replace the relay, I’ve got a Durite one I may substitute. Just a bit surprised that there is no mention of towing electrics fusing in the HB as LR supplied and fitted towing electrics and they mention fusing for other original “accessories” whether you have them fitted or not.

Hi Martin,
Checked fuse 2, ok, checked the supply to the fuse, ok, so it looks like I’ll have to start looking for a bad connection somewhere, probably where the tow electrics harness is connected to the vehicle harness at the rear. Many thanks for your help locating the right fuse, inside the fuse box cover there is a picture of a trailer, why not in the HB

I had loads of faults that were all down to that connector which for is placed in the most awkward and dirty place on the vehicle. It got so bad I made up my own fused leads back to the lights and battery. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.

That's clean, mine at 4 year old had about an inch build up of road filth and only used on a road. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off.

Yes, not too bad, but I had to dig out quite a lot of mud to get to it!
I’ve sorted the problem now, cut back and spliced in a new piece of cable, soldered, heatshrinked and I put that section in some split convoluted tubing. Before I put the plug/socket together I drenched them in electrical contact cleaner and then a liberal spraying with silicone grease after reassembly so 🤞! Still can’t figure out what has happened, my only thought is that I had the tank dropped about a year ago, maybe it was damaged then? Also replaced the faulty relay with a Durite VSR I happened to have, so all is working in time for me picking up my Eriba next week 😀 2010 Defender 110 Station Wagon, Santorini Black. |
