Are you using a fixed listing price listing I.e. Buy it now or bids with a reserve or similar? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

It was an auction with a reserve. It made 5k and I think it was about 15quid to list it and Iโm guessing the final value fee would be quite a bit

You just have to take it on the chin and accept that there are some chancers out there.
File the unpaid item case with ebay and relist it..... I have had loads of them |

Make a second chance offer to the bidder that lost to the winning bidder.
Providing their bid you are happy with as a value.* If you do have to cancel the sale i highly doubt you'll be charged a final value fee as no sale has taken place. The listing fee you won't receive back though, at least I wouldn't have thought so anyway. Maybe worth talking to them to double check via the eBay customer sercive chat thing if they still have it.

I will try that tonight and see how I get on. I think itโll have to be on the PC, the Ebay app is a bit limited

There are some complete tools out there. You are right the app is a bit limited, mich easier to raise a complaint on the desktop version. Best of luck ๐

Ebay is definitely geared toward the buyers an raising a complaint won't really achieve much other than drawing the process out.
I'd start by dropping the buyer a message an ask them to cancel the sale. If they do, any selling fees will be refunded straight away and you can relist. If they still ignore you, you'll have to raise a case through ebay for 'non paying buyer' which might end up taking a week or 2 to go through the system before the sale gets cancelled. |

I've had a few things recently people bid then go quiet.
Raise a case with ebay. it usually takes 10~15 days as they need to give the tossers.. I mean, buyers, time to respond. Then you get everything reimbursed back to you. |

I had a seller badger me to pay up, laugh was I hadn't had the chance to check that I had won the auction, as I was doing a 12 hr shift at the time. I apologised to the seller, and told them what had happened, then pay up straight away. He was fine with that, He said he had a few people take the out of him, winning stuff and not paying.
Another thing that bites me too, Is sellers not emailing you about problems they have, for not sending items out. I bought a windows ME Disc, as i am into retro computers. I paid up fare and square, waited nearly 2 weeks, in the end i had to get EBay involved. The seller told ebay she couldn't post it due to personal reasons, which in my eyes is a very poor excuse, You either don't advertise or you let the buyer know that there is a problem. All the seller had to do was, Email me and say i am sorry i am going to be a week late in posting due to a personal problem etc. I would have been spot on with that, as we all do have troubles etc. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

I'd have to agree with this, whenever I sell anything I half expect to be messed around... hell when I buy something I also half expect to be messed around! 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW 1956 Series 1 Hard-top 1958 Series 1 Soft-top |

Thanks for all the replies. Currently waiting in the queue for the online chat thing which also doesn't seem to be working.
I might have to raise a complaint about that while i'm on a roll! |

A lot of it is they are submitting bids without having the funds to settle the payment for what they have bidded on!
Simple rule, do not bid on things you cannot afford it doesn't take a genius to work that out. And you won't get the item unless the payment is made and that's the end of the matter. Perhaps they hope some bartering will go on to reduce the bill. Another favourite is if they think the item will make decent money and they'll be outbid they'll be messaging with a silly offer saying I'll take it off your hands right now if you cancel the sale for xx price if you add it. Knowing full well that it'd make double their offer. Then when it comes out small items, ALWAYS use traceable delivery methods or otherwise you will regret it. It'll remarkably get lost in the post, they've received it... File a complaint saying they haven't, eBay or PP will ask you to provide tracking for delivery proof... If you don't have any and the buyer has received it and told fibs they'll get a free item, money back and you cannot do a thing about it at all and you've lost the delivery cost on top of the item value. I wouldn't recommend using delivery non traceable for any item.
