The Shift-R is probably what you're thinking.

Think the main diff is the TMD version is one piece so doesn't rattle...
i have the slick shift and it took a lot of modification to make it rattle free and didnt actually find that much improvement if im honest, at the same time i shifted from a SVX gearstick to a Bowler set... |

Just a quick update, I fitted this slick shift over the weekend so I’d though I’d pass on my thoughts as it’s a £200 purchase
Really Easy to fit but a couple of things I’m not happy about - one I have a bearmachmgear stick with an aluminium knob which now won’t fit correctly - it won’t push all the way down so the locating slots clip into place and there isn’t enough plastic on them to make the slot larger so they do engage , so a £200 gearstick amd £200 slick shift that don’t fit together. The original gearstick is exactly the same so I guess I need to contact TMD to see why this is. Secondly the gear stick is now twisted so the numbers are off Centre towards the driver. I’m not sure if that is supposed to be like that or not. In terms of the feel of the new slick shift the Gear selection is certainly a lot smaller but in no means any easier. Still have to change gear quite slowly and find each gear. I was hoping that this would make it easier. The whole idea was to fit this to make it a litte bit easier for my wife to drive but she doesn’t think it has at really. Personally I think it’s an improvement I guess but not happy about the gearstick not fitting correctly. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Surely that can't be right? I'd be on the blower to TMD sharpish. They are a helpful bunch and I'm sure they'll sort the problem out for you.

As i understand it should only be tilted to the back and not to the side a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

On the TMD website the following is clearly stated:-
This suggests that either the product has been misrepresented or there is a problem with yours. Either way, I'd be on the blower to them without delay. |

yeah I have spoken to them and they advised its designed to be that way so that the gear knob is 'biased towards the driver'

Did you send them that photo? That gear knob looks wonky as hell.

Was the knob on your Bearmach lever crooked on the original mount?
Given that the original gear lever doesn't clip into place, and neither does the Bearmach one, I don't see how it is possible for the supplier to claim that that is how they are meant to be. Either the product is defective or it has not bee installed properly. |

Hi I am Ben from TMD, I have spoken with the customer about this, The shift-r is designed to be slightly angled, you want it closer to yourself and not so straight so it fits nicer in the hand, everything has been designed to give a quicker shift. The whole point of the unit.
Also as you can see from the images, the gearstick is not clipping in as it is hitting the foam, this foam is not original, The additional foam needs to be removed to allow the gearstick to clip into place. |

Hi ben.
On your website,as i see it, it’s angled backwards in a straight line. Is this the correct assuption? a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover |
