2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Java Black

Green laning???

Hiya, I 've never actually taken my car off road and I fancy stretching its legs, nothing too serious or which could cause damage just he off road trail type. I live in Nottingham but haven't got a clue where to go or how to find out where I can legally drive through. 110 Black Java Puma Utility, Kenlowe fan, bullbar, sides step, tinted windows, bluetoth, Scanguage, BAS,

Not my part of the world but have you considered joining one of the local clubs such as http://www.nottslrc.co.uk/

Your best bet would be to buy a local Ordinance Survey Map of the area you live in or you could use this website http://www.getamap.ordnancesurveyleisure.co.uk/. Once it loads click "Leisure" in the top left corner of the map

. In it it will show all the byways that are in your local area. If your unsure about it, walk it first. Plus remember you are legally allowed to cut any branches, bushes, etc which could cause damage to your vehicle on the route.

Only problem with that is that the map will not show what's open and what has a TRO.

Best to join a club, or GLASS

I agree with BigMike, an O/S map is just the starting point. If the lanes your planning on exploring are local then I would make an appointment with the Rights of Way dept of the local council and ask to view the definative map. The information on there should be up to date and you can then mark up your O/S map with current information. If your traveling some distance and visiting the council isn't practical, then I would recommend joining GLASS or CRAG and registering on this site http://www.trailwise.org.uk/index.php . Unless you've got a second vehicle to go with you and some recovery gear, a club would be the most advisable way to go.
