I would suggest the first port of call is to check what springs you have. If you clean them up you should see dabs of paint in colours reflecting the part #. This may help:
Road spring data Road spring Part number Colour code 90 2 seat utility (2400 Kg) Front - Driver's side REB500200 Red/green/white Front - Passenger side REB500220 Red/green/orange Rear - Driver's side NRC 9448 Blue/red Rear - Passenger side NRC 9449 Yellow/white 90 2 seat utility (2550 Kg) Front - Driver's side REB500200 Red/green/white Front - Passenger side REB500220 Red/green/orange Rear - Driver's side RKB101230 Green/yellow/red I would then check the spec of the spring, and make a decision about what you want to upgrade to... This may also help: http://bilashakaflowers.com/LandroverSprings.htm There are some OEM springs for HD application available from LandRover if you don't already have them...NRC9462 and NRC9463... I have bespoke springs from a company in Sheffield. See http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic49065.html Craddock does Old Man Emu upgrade springs for a 90... I would definitely install spring isolators to improve the ride and reduce road noise

Thanks gentlemen. And does anyone have an opinion about HD Springs on rear only - or should they be fitted all round? (Assuming that the current springs are not HD)

You can fit HDs in just the rear, in fact if you fit HD's up front without much extra weight there then handling (and looks) can be a bit *strange*

As people on here know my 90 is very heavy, re plated and both my 57 plate and now 12 plate have Extream HD springs +1in on the back only with the biggest roll bar they do. Always been a good set up for me vehicle looks level at all times even with a trailer. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Looks like I’ve got these on the rear of my 90 Click image to enlarge But the Green/Yellow/Red is on the passenger side rear. However, Still sagging a bit at the rear should I perhaps go for a HD or Extreme HD with a 1 inch lift? And if I do, do I need to do anything to the front, or change any other parts that I’ve seen mentioned before? Thanks, Pete. |

IMHO you are heading in the right direction, but only you will know for sure once you ave done the mod and seen if you are getting the result YOU want, I would do rears first, and then to fronts later if you decide you need to do it... Changing all 4 at once is a long day

If I raise the rears by 1” do I need to alter the propshaft or radius arms etc. Also, will I need to do any of this if I also raise the fronts by 1 inch? Pete |

I dropped the rear by 4-5 cm, and the propshaft was fine. Not sure about raising, however with the weight you have, I would imagine that your vehicle is just sitting as it left the factory (the extra weight will push it back to standard-ish?)
