Hi all, much to my amazement and dismay whilst topping up the washer bottle I found that the main oil filter was loose!. It has always surprised me how inaccessible it is and for some reason i stretched my hand under the turbo to check it. Amazingly there was no evidence of an oil leak and I managed to tighten it a 1/4 of a turn. Has anyone else experienced this? A quick Google blames the person who fitted it (not me) or a dodgy filter o ring which relaxed with the heat cycles. Cheers Andy

Cripes. lucky find Andy. Have to say this precisely why i do not trust others to service my Defender for me. That filter is tight fit for sure, but there is no excuse especially with a cheap tool available to help with the job.

Completely loose, I could spin it either way with just two fingers, but no oil leak which surprised me.
