Has anybody got an Optimil Swivel Lock Cover? I was wondering how it attaches to the Boss? Is it an easy fit? Does it just attach once the wheel is removed or does the middle cover of the Boss have to be removed? Obviously I already have the Optimil Boss fitted and can remove my wheel when I park. It’s surprising how many people notice that my Defender hasn’t got a steering wheel, I’ve had quite a few comments from complete strangers about there being no steering wheel in the vehicle when I return! One guy was parked next to me down my local Marina where I leave my P&J regularly. As I approached my Defender he jumped out of his car and enquired where my steering wheel was? It was at the time in a backpack on my back! I immediately got my phone out and took a picture of him standing next to his car with his number plate in shot. I was thinking he has only got to clock what steering wheel I have, get himself one and the boss is then more help to him then hindrance!
So are they an easy fit? Has anybody got one that can advise me if they are worth having - obviously another layer wont hurt!! 2010 Defender 90 HT The longer I live..... The better I was! |

^^^ What he said. It uses the drive pins and lock pins of the boss, and after a little practice takes seconds to fit (much easier and quicker than a pedal lock).
Best of all it means you don't have to carry the steering wheel around when you leave the vehicle. It's a brilliant piece of kit, |

I have always liked the look of these quick release hubs and locks.
I am concerned that when well used wear would occur on these hubs and movement detected and I know this would really annoy me, has anybody used one extensively and found any issues with any wear taking place? |

I have had mine for 7 months, taken on and off regularly and all is good. In fairness to Optimill their products are very well engineered and manufactured. 2015 HT XS 90

My steering wheel is detached maybe 3 or 4 times a day, no wear and tear yet. If it does indeed get to that stage I will buy another without question. As all above have said, there is a nack to fitting the boss cover. No need to remove the centre cap or anything, just take your wheel off and fit the lock. I still take the wheel with me though as it would be most annoying and inconvenient to return and find the motor has been broken into and the wheel is gone
Yes it’s another layer and as we all know, layers = time which the prospective thief might not want to spend on your vehicle. |

Possibly about a year now, not really sure? It’s well used anyway and has no signs of wear or damage. I was happy with the fact I could remove the wheel, but delighted now that I have the lock too. Quote from the wife “Fort Knox hasn’t got that amount of security” when I unveiled the Optimill lock as my latest security measure, she thinks I’m a bit OTT with security on the Landy, but “every little helps” as a well known supermarket chain says. |

I’ve ordered one - you lot talked me in to it... Well at least that’s my excuse!! Like any self respecting Defender owner all ordered mods are sent direct to my office and fitted there. All the incriminating packaging despised of in the wheelie bins there...
I couldn’t help ordering a few extra items from the ‘Defender Upgrades’ website while I was there - well that’s what rainy bank holidays were made for right lads.... 2010 Defender 90 HT The longer I live..... The better I was! |

Only a Defender owner could use the expression a 'thing of beauty' in relation to a fuel cap. Though I know exactly what you mean For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Well since you asked...
Nothing too exciting but some bits that’s have been on my mind to tidy her up a bit now most of the bigger mods are done The swivel Lock Gloss black side vent Black wheel nut covers Set of new mirrors complete with gloss back covers I was tempted with some new mirror arms with puddle lighting. But might fit a LED strip under the sills to come on when I unlock the doors from the remote then turn off once started. Be interested to know if anybody has done this?? 2010 Defender 90 HT The longer I live..... The better I was! |

I have the silver fuel cap, quick release steering wheel, but didn't even know they did a lockable cover for the boss whilst the wheel is removed !! what a great idea, so i have just ordered one of those too.
