None of mine are flanged. Just regular M12 half nuts.

Nitram17 - Yes, that is the genuine PN I have and are a gold passivated finish Genuine and slightly thinner than standard.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Retro - Interesting. On mine. 2.4 Puma the factory fit nuts are flanged and look identical to those in the eBay link. A nut is a nut I suppose, but I'd have thought they would be the same.

sorry steve i should stop speed reading at my age !......landrover use that size nut and part number for many applications accross the range ...i think its just whatever was in the bucket when yours was built!
I find this site good for finding lots of stuff (puma 2.2changes not so much) especially if you dont know the part number as the diagrams are good!sorry in advance if this is a granny and eggs situation. https://www.landroverworkshop.com/ Last edited by nitram17 on 8th Oct 2017 1:17pm. Yes theyll be thinner than standard, which is what a half nut is.
Just ask your local fastener place for some M12 half nuts, sorted. Theyre nothing special, if youre worried about the lack of flanges just use a washer |

you can even get some in stainless so they're less likely to seize up. If i recall correctly i replaced my bolts with stainless (as the one of them was chewed up or something.)
If you have fat tyres then it doesn't matter if you use full nuts as they wont be wound all the way in anyway. |

Ah, I see. That makes everything a bit clearer.
I was just really confused as to what the differences were and why for the same part. The half nuts are better really for bigger tyre's as the protruding thread area is smaller. I think I will use them with washers as suggested, I'd have stayed with the factory fit ones but with the nut slightly chewed it doesn't sit right with me just to nip it up, and forget it in case of future issues. They are only lock nuts, but are important. Thank-you for the info.

Surely it's the other way? The more you wind the bolt in the more lock you get, so the tyre will rub on the radius arm on the opposite side of the car? |

Puma went over to FN112046 which is a flanged nut (FN). Aftermarket suppliers using this part number seem to be supplying unflanged though.
Pre-Puma the nut is NH112041L which is stated as a "thin nut" and unflanged. Standard M12 though... 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Martin - Thank-you. That is very helpful info.
ZSD - I went from 235 to 255 and the 235's didn't rub and were factory fit. The 255's did rub, bizarrely on left lock only but not right lock. I had to wind out the steering lock stops slightly to reduce the steering lock slightly to stop the rubbing. This reduces the protruding thread on the opposite side on the bolt. Initially I wound them out a little too much and compromised the steering lock too much, but did cure the rubbing. Since I've wound them in a little more, with more lock but still no rubbing. Initially I set them to around 33mm between tyre and Radius arm, this solved the rubbing but the turning circle was ridiculous. I've now halved that, still no rubbing but clearance around 18mm or there abouts. A Micrometer to measure lock stop bolt protrusion was incredible useful, and I have kept that info for refence. Especially the standard lock, interestingly there was 2mm diffence between each side - no wonder there was rubbing on left lock only. As far as I am aware nobody has ever touched them, nothing was loose so must have been factory tolerances. I took measurements between biggest tread blocks (I have KM2's) and radius arm. And the rear of the steering lock stop bolt to the body of the mounting the bolt goes into. If anyone needs the info, I can post it later if you upgrade tyre sizes so you can do it quickly and easily. It's best to use a Micrometer for accuracy though as best you can as by eye it will be out a fair bit. Not that it's critical.

Thanks to Martin, I have now sorted the nuts in question. (Purchased)
https://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-FN112046 They are definitely the ones. I looked through the part catalogues as best I could and online and kept coming up with the P/N for the half nuts and earlier type. Even so ฃ5 - ฃ8 just for a nut or two, madness. Just doesn't feel right to nip up, nuts or bolts with a partially chewed head and just not bother to replace.. Should have used the correct sized ring spanner in the first place.

On mine the lock stop locking nut is behind the bolt head, and tightens agaisnt the hub. So when you wind the bolt out to reduce the lock, you get more thread between the bolt head and the hub.
